FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions:

DO I NEED TO STAY WITH MY CHILD DURING MEETINGS?

We ask that in the beginning every parent stays with their child during meetings, to assess whether your child can handle your dog or not. If your dog is too strong for your child, again we ask that you stay for safety reasons.

HOW DOES MY KID OBTAIN THE INFORMATION HE NEEDS TO SUCCEED?

When a child enrolls he gets a folder with all the information he needs to get him started. A Fair packet is also included. The Fair packet will answer most of your questions about Fair, such as what type of collars are allowed, how your child should dress for competition, is your dog old enough to enter, etc. Please read through all the info with your child.Reading the packet will increase the rate of success. As leaders we try to guide and direct and are not responsible for errors as a result of not reading the rules.

CAN MY CHILD USE A DOG THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO HIM?

Yes, a child can use any dog, whether it belongs to family member or friends, it does not matter. To enter that dog in Fair they would simply need to fill out a non-ownership form along with their regular Fair paperwork.

CAN TWO CHILDREN SHARE A DOG?

Only if they realize they could not enter the same events with one dog. Each child would have to choose what events/area they would like to practice in.For example, they could not both enter Showmanship at Fair and use the same dog.It is best for each child to have their own dog and work as a team and be able to enter all events.

MY CHILD IS NOT COMFORTABLE DOING OFF LEAD WORK, IS THAT OK?

We do not force anyone to compete at a level that they are not ready for.Beginner and Advanced kids are separated and any off lead work is done in a safe environment with plenty of supervision and encouragement.

I CAN'T MAKE IT TO ALL THE MONDAY MEETINGS. ARE WE OUT OF LUCK?

No, there is a Tues. night dog club and a Thursday night dog club and you are welcome to get some practice time in with them so you don't fall behind.
